Moose meeting the babies. Can you see the panic and uncertainty in his eyes? :-)
He is starting to get used to both the house and the babies, but he definitely keeps his distance from them. Moose also seems really confused when we get up for a few hours over and over each night.

Whenever Madison & Blake (the order they are in below) are placed together at least one of them turns towards the other. More often then not they both turn to each other. Neither minds the other laying on them, poking or kicking the other.

Madison (in the front) is a very fussy eater. They both developed thrush this last week. By the time we figured out it wasn't milk in her mouth hers was so bad her entire tongue was white with the white spots all over the gums, roof and starting onto her lips! We called the Pediatrician who called in a prescription for us on Saturday of Nystatin. Now she is almost cleared up. She continued to nurse pretty well until Friday, but it has been a super fight since then. We are trying to get her back onto nursing as my milk production is going down with those powerful baby jaws not as great as the pump at stimulating production. It may also have to do with not eating or drinking enough. It is really hard for me to eat at least 2700 calories a day at home. Blake stopped nursing well when his thrush was only a a quarter as bad as hers was! Wimpy lazy boy... He, however, is doing much better at getting back into nursing!!

They look so cute together. We are soooo in LOVE with them. Both are taking to binky's very well. And they also don't care about what kind of binky or bottle nipple or formula we give them. I care though! We are using the rubber nipples when we bottle feed as they are softer like me where as the plastic nipples are hard and really easy for them to tell they are being bottle fed which is easier for them.

We had passed up on a few bassinets thinking we would not need one and could use a pack n play if we decided to keep them in our room. Well, with a c-section it was not in my best interest to be bending all the way down into a pack n play and it takes up a lot of floor space. We decided to use the laundry basket! We think they fit in there rather well. It also works well for keeping them in the position we put them in and sleeping them at an incline. Madison is a upchuck baby. She needs to be burped several times during feeding and after as well as sleep at an incline. This minimizes the spit ups, but she definitely still spits up some every single feeding. Whenever you hold her be prepared with a burp rag. (Madison on the left and Blake on the right)

Blake is finally turning the losing weight curve and is now gaining weight! Yesterday (Tuesday 4/29) I thought he had a temperature of 103. He felt really warm and wouldn't eat even though it had been over 4 hours since his last feeding. I took his temperature with one of those ear thermometers. We went to the pediatrician and his temperature was 98.7 with the rectal thermometer. So we are now going to use a rectal thermometer exclusively. Blake's weight was up to 5 lbs 8 oz. The pediatrician said he has lazy white boys disease. lol

The kids laying on our bed.

Both of the kids love to sleep on our chests. Guy can fit them both on there at once very nicely. Madison often will not sleep the last sleep of the night with Blake in the basket. She will only sleep on Guy's chest. She is also a lot more boisterous then Blake and often will demand attention where he is much more laid back. (Blake on the left with his tiny ears and scratch marks and Madison on the right with my big ears) And yes I have given Blake and Madison manicures to minimize the scratches. The dumb hand mittens are tooo big for both of them.

The kids holding hands.

Blake has his arm around Madison.

These are the best hats we have. They came with our first purchase when we were in the Hobart Tasmania airport in September. We got the cutest onsies to show Mum and Dad that we were having twins. Mum said she already knew we were having twins and really hoped they were two boys. She didn't get that wish but is very happy to have our little boy/girl twins. She is counting down the days left on their mission in Sydney, Australia until they come home and come see us. They will be here on June 13th for a month. My mom is coming this Friday for 10 days.

They mostly sleep right now. Big shocker... lol

Here is Guy on our first walk together. The kids look like little lumps in the stroller. Pretty soon they will take up a lot more space.

So far I have lost over 30 pounds in a week a half! Right now I am 9 pounds over my starting weight. It seems like no matter how much I eat the pounds keep coming off. My clothes are still a little off fitting though with my gushy belly and c-section incision. I can't stand for anything to put pressure on that area.

Here's little Blake sleeping on daddy's chest to get his temperature back up. He got a little cool a couple days ago.

Meet Blake, and Madison.

Well her goes;

My name is Guy E. White, proud father of 2 beautiful newborn babies. We moved into our new home in Garner yesterday, and had begun the unpacking of the home. We retired to bed at 10:00pm. I could not sleep at all, as if in preparation I got out of bed at 12:30am and bathed, shaved, and brushed my teeth. I guess i just knew, i cant explain it. At 2:15am or so shannon woke me up and said "oh crap, my water is broken. We made it to the hospital by 3:30, in a room at 3:40, and things were not moving fast enough (at least for Shannon and I). She was in so much pain, after discovering she was at an 8, then 10 minutes later fully dilated we were off. I gowned up, and without even time for an epideral Shannon (the champ) delivered the boy at 4:57am. He was 6lbs 2oz, 20 inches long.

The girl on the other hand would not move from her transverse position, even with the doctor pushing, shoving, and pulling. So at 5:17 the girl was born/pulled out via C-Section. She was 6lbs 7oz, 19 1/4 inches long. No names yet, but here is a small video to enjoy, it is really small, there will be more to follow. It is my first attempt.

Name update! ******Blake Austin White, and Madison Amelia White******

Moving days and pregnancy update

Here is a photo from the rainy day wedding last week.
Our last growth u/s and OB appointment were on Monday this week. The growth u/s went well with the boy estimated to be 6 lbs 9 oz and the girl to be 5 lbs 13 oz. They should each continue to gain about 1 oz per day. The boy is at the 89th percentile and the girl is at the 68th. The perinatologist was giddy she was so pleased we were all doing so well! She said my uterus is amazing. lol We then headed over to our OB appointment to meet the new OB on the block. He was very nice. At the last minute he decided to do a cervical check. As he did his eyes got a little big and he said, "I feel the head and you aren't going to last much longer." He said I was dilated to 3 cm. He mentioned setting up an appointment for next week, but that I would most likely not make it that far. I was very happy to have gotten to at least 3 cm with my current pain levels! As I told my mom... Any cm of dilation gained with very manageable pain is a blessing to me. So far the babies are showing all signs of staying in the belly for a while longer. Still having contractions, but they are all manageable.

Right now it's after 3 am on Thursday morning. Yesterday the movers came to pick up our stuff. They did a wonderful job even if they did take a bit long to get it done. Tomorrow I have tried to streamline the process with diagrams where they need to place furniture and boxes in all of the bedrooms and living room. This will hopefully help to speed things along and give us the most unpacking time tomorrow we can get. Normally Guy is the one who wants to be all unpacked and set up ASAP, but this time I am already feeling the urgency to get settled in quickly. We packed like mad the last few days and were 98% ready when the movers arrived. Normally we would be 100%, but with me so slow and kinda useless in many ways we just weren't.

Molly and Logan got here safely Tuesday night. They flew in from Cincinnati, OH. Logan is now 9 months old and is such a joy to have around. He is also pretty big for his age. Molly has been a HUGE help! She has helped with organization, cleaning (especially cleaning), and keeping us sane. We really appreciate what a wonderful friend she is and the sacrifice she has made to come visit and help us in our time of need. She will also be able to help with the movers if we were to have these babies at the drop of a hat!

We also received some help from our friends Mona and Amanda from church. They came by Tuesday night to help us get the last 5 boxes packed and a few empty spots cleaned for the new owners. I know the new owners definitely appreciate moving into a nice clean house!

The walk thru on our new house went well. They have left it much cleaner then we had anticipated. And since we couldn't find any dry ice they also let us put our freezer stuff in the freezer! Very nice.

That's all for now!

Latest OB apt and the end

Here are a couple of photos of Corri. She has lost 30 pounds in the last three months with the help of a doctor by changing her diet and exercising. The first photo was taken at the Baby shower in Phoenix in January (I'll have to do that from home tonight) and the second one she took yesterday. You go girl!!! Ngaire has also lost some weight on her own by changing her diet and exercising. I don't have any recent photos of her though.

Generally I am woken up during the night between 3-5 times to use the rest room. The way I am woken up is by somewhat painful contractions. Last night I had one that was a bit more painful then most. I was laying on my side and when I put my hand on my belly I was able to feel a head down really low and followed the body all the way up the legs in my ribs! It was so crazy. The baby outline was really defined and strait up and down the belly. I'm sure it was the boy as he's been in most of that spot for a while now.

The latest OB appointment was a couple days ago. She wrote me off of work with my last day as today. The babies looked good on the u/s and she checked my cervix. It is still completely closed. She said they probably will not come for a couple of weeks. On Monday we have a growth u/s and meet the new OB at the practice afterwards. I'm really curious to see how big the babies will be estimated at. My stomach has expanded a lot this last couple of weeks so they should be growing well and not growth restricted. If they grow only the normal amount they should be estimated between 6 1/2 and 7 pounds each at 1 day shy of 36 weeks. That is pretty big. If they are both right at 7 pounds I'm going to ask them to set up an earlier then 38 week induction. Two 8 pounders in one belly just seems a bit crazy and excessive to me! My goal from the beginning was to have 7 pound twins which people including a few OB's at my practice thought was crazy. Now it looks like we'll be getting at least that! At least we didn't get too many newborn diapers so there should be just enough for about a week.

I'm not sure how I feel about today being my last day at work. It is very surreal.

Cool picture and the end of something not nice

This is an illustration of a twin pregnancy at 36 weeks. I am 35 weeks today but with the babies constantly measuring ahead it is probably pretty accurate. I think our babies are more side by side though instead of front and back.

And spicy food rocks!!! It totally kicked constipation's butt! Oh yeah, feeling much better now.

Guy and I are on opposite shifts for three more days. Stinky! So we are only seeing each other when I am still asleep and he is going to bed at 5:15 am.

We made it past one hurdle this month!

Saturday we had a wedding to photograph. I actually did pretty well and was able to take way more photos then I thought I'd be able to. Guy did a fabulous job, as always. It was my third rainy wedding since I started them 16 years ago. It was Guy's first rainy wedding day. The rain cooperated very well for us when we really needed to take photos outside. The chapel was nice, but very hot with the humidity and the very full room of wedding guests. I thought I was in trouble when the urge to pee happened during the ceremony. In order to not be distracting to the wedding guests I had to sneak through the old chapel, through a narrow hallway cluttered with debris where I had to step between the legs of a broken chair just to get by, then I was visible to some guests for just a minute before making it into the bathroom on the side of the stage/pulpit. Once I got in there and was ready to flush it dawned on me the people on the stage might here! Well, after debating with myself for a minute I decided it was much better to flush then to leave a pee present for the next person. So flushed away... The groom and I laughed about it later that evening.

Oh, and I now have stretchies spreading up past my belly button. They are all about ½ to 1 inch and up to 1/3 of an inch wide, but they are everywhere. And they are a bit itchy every once in a while. I think ‘twin skin’ is definitely in my future. For those of you who haven’t heard what twin skin is… It is what people who have had twins call the very stretch mark covered skin that never ever regains its shape even if all the weight is lost. Many people describe how you can grab some on each side of the belly and shake it because there is so much of it. Sounds exciting and sexy, huh?

We have a week and two days until we move! It's coming up quickly.

Quick update - My belly dropped

I had two people tell me today my belly dropped and is a lot lower today. I felt baby boy moving a lot last night so hopefully he engaged his head and is in the 'ready' position! Now, I only have to figure out some way to keep them head down and him engaged... As much as they move that just may not be possible.

HAPPY HUMP DAY! Only two more days to go until the weekend. Though we do have a wedding to photograph on Saturday. So I still have three more full work days to go.

OB appointment update

I just realized in my last wordy post there could have been some worry about things.

Tawni is doing well. It turns out she had an infection and was not leaking amniotic fluid. We're all thankful it was 'just' an infection. She also got her ultra sounds she has been desperately wanting for a few weeks now. The baby's placenta is still over her cervix. Other then that he is doing well.

My OB appointment went well also. I did ask him about my bright red skin, but since I have no other signs of high blood pressure he wasn't worried. There was no high blood pressure when they took it, no swelling anymore and no protein in my urine. Both babies are head down at the moment. The boy isn't quite in a good birth position as his head was not engaging my cervix. So they do need to move a bit. I mentioned my concerns over a c section to him with my slow healing and he was so much nicer then the last OB I saw. Mostly we actually talked about photography and not baby stuff. He wants to get a nice digital SLR camera.

Last night Guy and I packed 7 boxes. That almost doubled our total boxes packed! lol He is working on packing some today and I promised to help him tonight as well. Surprisingly I am not extra worn out today. I'm still having trouble staying awake today (same yesterday), but I think it's just the end of pregnancy exhaustion and getting up 4-5 times a night to pee. Still having quite a few painful contractions though out each day. But they still seem to not be doing anything.

Baby shower photos

Here are photos from Saturday's baby shower.
In this photo I am holding up the ribbons that indicate how big around my belly is. It is about 47 inches right now. The babies are growing more up and down then out. Does it look like about 11 lbs of babies? lol The friend with me is Maria. She made the cake into the diaper bag and all the cool edible baby stuff.
This sign is really cool and I can't wait to put it up on the wall of our new home.
Here is the cool cake and accessories I was talking about. Maria is very talented.
Here is Maria cutting the cake.
This is a photo of all the lovely gifts we received. Sabrina and Annie laid them all out so nicely.
This is a close up of the edible baby accessories.
The next couple are of some friends from church who attended.

Guy being silly with the edible baby bottles. I think he took those to eat.
Sabrina, me and Annie. I still can't believe their trip worked out so well and they had already planned to spend Saturday with me! It's so sad not have our friends living here anymore.
