30 days of summer - Day 12 Walking and eating videos

Today I have some videos to share with you. The must see ones if you have little time have a '*' in front.

* First up is an 'old' video of Blake when he first learned to walk back around Easter. All you really need to watch the first 20 seconds. At the very end will be the baby birds we had in the tree off our porch.
90 seconds

This video is of Blake too. At some point in the video I say he doen't like the dog barking, but he was trying to bark like the dog! Too funny.
69 seconds

* The next two videos are of Madison walking in the backyard!
14 seconds

46 seconds

This one is Blake being Blake with Madison fussing in the background. He trys to bark like a dog again. Why didn't I catch this then? Sooo funny.
60 seconds

The babies first time eating with the spoons by themselves. I tried not to interfere with them at all. It cracks me up, but I'm sure it is my mommy goggles!
90 seconds

* Just Madison eating. She really did well, and I am majorly distracting her with my video.
31 seconds

* Just Blake eating. He really cracked me up with his 'skills' at eating!

30 days of summer - Day 11

"Tonight when i do my laundry i will throw in an extra scoop of Oxyclean in your memory billy!!!"
-Corriann Ellingsworth

Corri cracks me up! That has to be one of the best things I've heard in a long time. My friend, Tabitha, hosts a blog roll for her Sunday Citer (quote) each week.

Today's 30 days of summer shot was taken by Guy. Yes, he is the coolest and I love him dearly! Blake figured out how to operate the wagon like he had done it a million times before. Mr. Smarty pants. We had fun playing in the backyard today where I found out our few trees do create some shade prior to 1pm. Now we have a new place to play during the day. Oh, and please don't mock the rolled up shorts. It was much easier for him to climb up the slide with them over his knees. I still can't believe they can both climb the slide (Thanks for the slide Maren!!!).
SG June28 09 1

A shot of Maddy getting ready to go down the slide. She's so determined.
SG June28 09 3

Some of today's drama and cuteness: Guy offered a plate of grilled cheese sandwhich sections to Blake for lunch. Blake grabbed one to put on his tray. He then grabbed a second one and put it on Madison's tray. How sweet is that? I love when they share. We got video of Madison walking today so I'll try and remember to share it. There are also quite a few other cute photos to share. Those will have to come later. Madison is following Blake around more now with her 'advanced' skills. She tends to pull & push him down though. This evening he started hollering (louder then his tantrum when Guy left for work) horribly & was clingy to me for a while. At first I thought he was electricuted because the popcorn machine plug was by them when I picked him up. It finally became aparent he got whacked by his right eye. About 15 minutes later Madison started hollering. She calmed down pretty quickly though she didn't want to get back down. All of a sudden my drool girl (cutting many teeth) lets out a big wad of drool. Only this drool has blood in it! The poor girl has a fat lip and bleeding gums from her bonk. I'm thinking her walking may mean some daily bumps and yuk for a while.

My friend, Ruth, had a wonderful blog post you should read if you have to deal with money in your life! lol In other words everyone should read this. http://leeandruth.blogspot.com/2009/06/some-reading-recommendations.html

I almost forgot to post a picture of the play set I'm offering for free. This picture shows exactly why I'm giving it away. Now that they are mature enough, my extra large kiddos are too tall for it! Blake tried several times unsuccessfully to stand up. Many of their age appropriate toys are much to small for them. It's kind of funny to watch him bend over to talk into the microphone of their sit & stand music center. It is sit and bend over for them! :-)

30 days of summer - Day 10 & Madison is finally walking!!!!!

Today's shot is one I took to show the new cloth diaper I am reviewing. I'm loving it and I will also get to offer one in a Giveaway soon! Keep checking back for loads more information.

SG June27 09 5

We are sooooo happy Madison is walking now. She is still pretty unsteady, but I am so proud of her. She has a lot of determination with a willingness to keep getting up no matter how many times she falls. Love this girl. Sorry for not saying anything else. It is time for bed, and the pictures tell a pretty good story anyway. Enjoy!

Utah wedding day pictures

Guy's nephew, Andrew's, wedding was at 9 am at the Salt Lake City temple. A few family members volunteered to watch the babies while we attended the sealing/ceremony. I'm especially glad it was cool for our entire trip on this day since we had about an hour wait for them to get dressed into their dress and tux. We mostly just stood around and talked. Marci practiced taking photos with my camera of all the waiting family and friends. It was a bit weird to be at a wedding without being in charge and snapping away. I felt like I had no purpose. The bride's sister is a photographer, and they also took the bride and groom shots prior to the wedding date.

a SG June26 09 1

Kourtney had specific colors for all of their immediate family members & their kids to wear. Her two nieces here are way cute. I can't resist taking pictures of the cute kiddos.
SG June26 09 5

I love my reflection in Corri's glasses and how she was captured actively talking. Kourtney sharing a moment with her new mom-in-law and sis-in-law. The bottom left is Guy's sister's family, and the bottom left is anyone on the grooms side of the family at the temple.
a SG June26 09 7

There was a lunch at noon followed by a reception starting around 6pm. Some of Guy's family were only able to make either the lunch or the reception. Blake & Madison attended the reception in their PJ's. In these shots are most of the family at the reception with some family shots. This top right one is Ngaire & Brian who are about to have their first baby after 14 years of wanting one. We were all bummed that his sister Melia's kids were visiting family in Montana.
a SG June26 09 6

Here are some funny shots taken with the camera on the pillar column set on the interval setting. There were probably 30+ shots taken so most of the adults were annoyed with me by the time they finished up. The kids and I were jumping off the pilars by the end.
a SG June26 09 3

Between the temple sealing and the lunch we went to the British shop for some yummy treats with Guy's parents and sister, Corri. The kids have loved any British and Australian foods we have given them so far. They even love Vegemite if Guy isn't too heavy handed. Blake's scared face is one he makes often when he is unsure of his surroundings. There was a man walking with a dog who thought we REALLY wanted to spend time with him and his dog. Neither Blake nor Madison wanted anything to do with him when we walked from the bakery to the shop.
a SG June26 09 2

I think Blake was thinking back to our Marbles Museum visit during our visit to the British shop. He was very interested in both pulling items from the shelves and putting them back. Madison sat in the middle of the floor observing until she found the metal door with all the magnets on it! Madison ended up napped on the way to the lunch as well as for a while once we got there so Guy hung out in the car with her. He must have had at least five people waiting by in or around the car with him at any given time. Blake officially loves anything electronic. He was so proud of himself in the last picture for pushing the buttons and entertaining the audience.
SG June26 09 4

All in all it was a great day! I really love Guy's family, and I am so happy they are a part of my life. It's so cool to have so many extra siblings to share our lives with.

Boojiboo Flirty Apron GUEST GIVEAWAY!!!!

Those of you who really know me well would be shocked to hear I have been wanting an apron really bad. Why? who knows. Maybe for when I make salsa! lol

Thanks, Rachael, for posting about this giveaway!

30 days of summer - Day 9

Here is yesterday's photo. I had a photo shoot in the morning of the cutest 1 year old with big deep brown eyes. Her older brother picked some wild flowers for her. We were able to hang out in my new favorite store for many of the photos. I am so in love with Market Imports at the Raleigh farmers market. I could easily spend a couple thousand on awesome props for families and especially babies.

Madison's eating antics

Here are the photos I promised from yesterday. Maddy girl was cracking me up! I hope they crack you up too.

As I looked over at her during lunch she had pulled the car up onto her tray. Then she thought it was a fabulous idea to 'feed' her car a piece of her sandwich plus a few bits of the pretzel mix.
a S&G June24 09 2

Madison tends to play with her food for a while before getting down to the business of eating. She likes to take her meal slow and easy. That is.... Until there is very little food left and Blake may want some. Then she will become the queen chipmunk with her little mouth crammed full of food. Last night she had her first spicy mongolian beef and loved it. I was so afraid we would have revenge of the diaper today, but we didn't. Go Madison! She may just love spicy food like her mama.
a S&G June24 09 3

Blake eats when he is hungry and he is DONE when he is done. We had better get him out of his high chair the moment he is finished. He really has become our lover of most foods. He even loves tomatoes. Blake will also eat apples without me cutting them up. He just grabs the whole apple with both hands until only the core is left (unless he drops it on the grocery store floor! Yuk). He doesn't do as well with corn on the cob though he loves to eat it that way. The only thing he doesn't like for sure is spicy food. The poor kid feels like his mouth is on fire. I'll be avoiding giving him the spicy stuff until he builds up to it.

30 days of summer - Day 8 & Super cute story

I tried to find where to credit this story to, but it appears to be everywhere as an original story. Who knows. My mama Judy sent me this as a forwarded email today.

A childs view of God

A little girl walked to and from School daily.
Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to the elementary school.

As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with lightning.
The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school and she feared the electrical storm might harm her child.
Full of concern, the mother quickly got into her car and drove along the route to her child's school.
As she did, she saw her little girl walking along. At each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look up, and smile.
Another and another flash of lighting followed quickly and with each, the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile.
When the mother's car drew up beside the child, she lowered the window and called to her 'What are you doing?' The child answered, 'I am trying to look pretty because God keeps taking my picture.'

May God bless you today and everyday as you face the storms that come your way.

Since I am all about pictures this story was right up my ally! LOVE IT! Short and cute.

As I am typing this I looked over at Madison. Oh my! She pulled a car from the floor up onto the tray of her feeding chair. She is feeding it her sandwich! LOL I'll put up photos of it tomorrow. This totally cracked me up!

30 days of summer - Day 7 & an announcement

Today was spent mostly on the computer getting ready to make our photography business announcements. Please check out the photography blog for the full message. The kids & I did manage to make it outside a couple of times. Madison walked only holding one of my fingers all the way to the mailbox. She also started to walk a few times unassisted today. Her problem is when she tries to grab onto something any time she has something in reach. A few times today poor Blake has been her 'something'. Everytime she pushed, pulled or swung him around. Yes, she actually swung him around her this evening. You can imagine how much he liked that!

Oh, and look at her feet in this photo. These are the size 5 shoes that were too big on her last month. She couldn't fit into her size 5 dress shoes on Sunday. On the plus side we have some super cute size 6 pink sparkly dress shoes for her. Maybe she'll fit into them longer then 3 months... this time... I'm glad those shoes were only a $1 at a consignment sale!

30 days of summer - Day 6

This shot shows how I feel today. The day started after much to little sleep over the past three days. The kids cried from the moment they exited the cribs (and Blake before) until we left for church. About half of church was a bit overshadowed by the cranky kiddos too. It only got more crazy after their brief nap this afternoon. They even fought and cried through getting their nails trimmed (duh, lol). Poor Guy coming home to a wildly inconsolable Blake who finally calmed down only to have Madison be the inconsolable one. It was a long 2 1/2 hours until they went down for all of us. Blake's picture below was just taken when he woke back up for a drink and some cuddles. We should all sleep fantastically tonight! Madison has a couple of massive molars stretching out her bottom gum line trying to come in. We think Blake has molars coming in too.

30 days of summer - Day 5

Yesterday as I was fainting from the heat after arriving home from the softball tournament, letting Madison walk around with a push toy, Blake finish his nap in the car and waiting for Guy to get home, I snapped this shot. It's the rings in our debris laden kiddie pool on the screened in porch. How do so many debris get into a screened area in 11 days?

I won!! Wooo hooo!!! & Why don't people buckle up their kids?!?!?!

I'm so stinkin excited to have won the kids photo of the week for I Heart Faces! That photo of Tori really is super cute. A couple of weeks ago I made the weekly collage with the twins & their birthday cakes. This is like a nice big yummy bowl of home made salsa and tasty chips with a really empty stomach!!! Yum, my favorite thing.

Yesterday Guy and I were driving and he mentioned he hoped the kid in front of us was buckled in. It soon became apparent she was not. I told him it would be fine with me if he wanted to follow her home to give her a lecture while flashing his badge at her. Even though he was as frustrated by her (the moms) actions he said he would not be comfortable doing this. I told him, "I've done it before and would be happy to do it again." He still wouldn't follow her. At a stop sign we came up right behind them. The little girl (about 4-5) looked at me when I sternly mouthed to her while gesturing that she had better sit down and pulled on my seat belt telling her to buckle up. We were behind them about a 1/2 mile further and the little girl crouched down in her chair with one eye on me until they turned into their neighborhood. Guy was busting up laughing at me and the little girls reaction to my 'mom' actions. I've yelled at several drivers over the years parked behind me at lights waiting until they buckle their kids before moving or just made it clear to fellow cars on the road to buckle their kids. Yes, I am from the generation of no seatbelts and pack a bunch of kids into cars, but that doesn't mean we still have to make those ignorant and negligent decisions.

On a happier, non tangent, note again softball concluded today with our last day of tournament. We had a great time camping out by the big fan to battle the 90+ weather (with 80% humidity) between innings. A few young moms of the younger girls on the team watched the babies since Guy worked today. The babies ate most of the food I brought them, and they had a rec room in the church when the babies got overheated. We ended up only playing two games between a fellow team forfeiting and then we forfeit one game as well. I am still absolutely loving playing left or center field. It is such a cool position to play. It's sad to think I won't see any of the girls & ladies anymore after just getting to know them.

Here are some quick snapshots of the kids at Guys parents a couple days ago.

30 days of summer - Day 4

Today we have spent most of the day settling in. Our bed is piled high with clean clothes folded and laid out for hangers, the fridge is full of the perishables it was missing, our checkbook is up to date, some of the fullness on our DVR is gone, the lawn is freshly mowed, emails have been answered including some of the 40 plus needed sent out have been (are you feeling lucky if you were one? :-)), clients & family photos are uploaded to the galleries in preperation of pick up, Guy's uniform is clean & laid out for his pre sunrise dressing and the lawn is no longer knee high.

It's just about time for the first game of my softball tournament. Wish me luck!

This shot is of my two new summer dresses still wrinkled from the shipping and my legs were freshly shaved to try them on today. Otherwise you just don't feel right no matter how new the dress is. The white one is a bit off in fit mostly because I have less then average (pretty much no) boobs. I'm hoping to make a some minor alterations for me. The other was made perfectly for me. They are both modest dresses too! It is so hard to find stylish dresses that are modest and not grandmotherly or just plain ugly. REALLY! Both of mine were on clearence with the white one $12.99 and the blush one $32.00. Check out Mikarose if you are interested.

30 days of Summer - Day 4

30 days of summer - Day 3

We spent a nice morning with Guy's parents, went to lunch at my new favorite Utah joint (Cafe Rio), uploaded a ton of photos and flew home. The flight was nice with us in the front bulkhead row. I really feel sorry for the guy who was sitting in my row that we conned into switching seats with Guy. Who knew those people next to him had a grandson who wanted to hang out in their row most of the trip. Four full size people in one row (the kid was a big 12), Yikes! Blake was very go go go action boy. I finally pinned him down for a couple minutes and he was fast asleep. Then I put him on the floor, and tried the magic clamp arms on Madison. She fought a little harder then settled in for an hour long snooze. YAY, me.

Today's photo is from the morning nap. I walked into the room to a happy Blake and an ecstatic Madison with her big grin clamped down on an empty slide. What? An empty slide! Uh oh. I walked in closer to find her play pin filled with slides she reached off the shelf. On day one the two play pins were smooshed together far enough away from any reachable objects. Apparently they were pushed slowly towards the bookshelves as Guy's dad got clothes out of the closet and we hunted for shoes and binkies thrown out. I then did something I promised never to do... I ran downstairs for the camera to try and get a shot of Madison with the slide clamped in her teeth smiling at me. "Recording bad behavior only rewards bad behavior." This has always been our school of thought. So what did I find back in their room? This shot.

30 days of Summer - Day 3

Mean mommy was supposed to get them out of bed. Not run back down for the camera. And Madison was no longer interested in biting the slide for me. Lesson learned.

30 days of summer - Day 2

It's so hard to pick only one photo to represent today. We had a lot of fun meeting up with friends and their kids, hanging out with family and eating good food. The supposedly rain all day weather turned into only two pretty heavy rains. One was around 2pm and the other just happened about 9:30 pm. This shot is of Madison's feet with the rain water and debris on the back steps. Blake was sitting right next to her for a very short minute. Both of them have a love/hate relationship with ick and wetness. Sometimes they love it, sometimes they can't stand it, and sometimes they feel both at the same time!

30 days of summer - Day 1

What can distract a boy from a found ball? A cute little baby/toddler he would love to play with! Today was a PJ day for the kiddos. We took them to the little playground not far from mum and dad's condo. There was a stray basketball there Blake was loving playing with. He is getting quite good about throwing balls (and things) where he wants them to go.

Us June09 1439

This cooler weather is still awesome! Apparently it has also been quite cool and rainy back in NC. The weather is supposed to turn sunny and warm both here in Utah and in NC when we head home Thursday. Too bad it couldn't have waited until we got home. Our Utah trips and bad national news out of Raleigh seem to coincide. A year ago when we were out here a man tried to kill his family in a car crash. He ended up killing the people in the auto he hit. Guy just told me today he was released on probation this week even after pleading guilty. Where is the justice in that. This trip the Slim Jim factory by our house had a major fire/explosion killing three people (luckily our friend David is OK), and the rain is causing some flooding too.

I Heart Faces entry - Sepia theme

This week is sepia for the subject, and this sepia shot of little Tori is one of my favorites this week. Aleesha - Check out my Flikr stream for the rest of the ones I did my editing take on. They will be on the photography blog in the next couple days.

My adult entry is our adorable niece, Marci, who came down early the morning after her brother's wedding (busy from 5am til 10pm) for her senior photo shoot. Karissa came with her, but camped out in the car part of the time due the unseasonably cool weather. Marci and I were warm after 3 minutes of running around taking her photos. Apparently I just happened to find a VERY popular spot in Lehi, UT photographers love. Yay me! It really is a great spot I'd love to shoot more photos at.

Family photos!

We had a friend of ours, Aleesha, take some family photos of us last week the night before we left for Utah. I'm so happy with how they came out and just finished editing them. Here are a few of the ones I liked. When we all have a finger out we were singing 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. Both of the kids LOVE this song and love to shake their finger 'no'. Aleesha also took some shots of me with each kiddo and me with both of them. Though they did NOT like the funny textures on their feet so the ones of me with both kids didn't really come out. There are some wonderful candid moments I absolutely love. Now I just have to pick one for a wall photo in our home. That will be really hard! I think it is finally time to order a gallery wrapped canvas. YAY!

WH blog post June 15 09

Our trip here to Utah is going great! Most people would hate a trip with lots of thunderstorms and cool weather. I absolutely love it! The day time temps have been in the 60's almost the whole time with loads of clouds and the occasional storm. We have been able to spend lots of time with Guy's parents. There have been the usual hazards of drama, broken down car, run away dog and stressful moments, but the overall trip has been quite pleasant with tons of memorable moments. Guy and I both very much enjoyed going to the temple for the sealing of his nephew. There is such a marvelous spirit there which fills me up with pure joy. I pretty much cried happy tears through the whole thing. My normal MO is to cry at least once during church too! I'm not a blubberer, but I do have tears tracking down my cheeks anytime I get to feel the spirit strongly. It would be so cool to go for a long drive far away from all the houses to get some great open sky scenery shots. That probably will not happen this trip. One of my missionary companions stopped by last night for a visit. She looks just the same and has the most adorable kids. Her son got a little adventurous while they were here trying to give his mom a coronary. lol Something about boys being able to go to the bathroom anywhere leading them to try just about anywhere! Most of Guy's sisters and his brother were all here for this visit as well. We have had lots of fun hanging out, taking photos and, of course, eating. There is this completely yummy place the girls introduced me to called Cafe Rio. YUM! We've now been there twice. So far we've been able to take some senior pics of our niece, Marci, some prego shots of his sister, Ngaire, a few couple shots of his sister, Melia, some family shots of his brother, Jamie, some family and random shots of our nephew, Andrew's, wedding, and tons of pics of everyone with our kids or messing around. I may have a photo shoot Tuesday, too!

Madison is still refusing to walk. In fact she is starting to do it less now probably because I back up when she is walking to me! Both of the kiddos are very interested in learning how to use a fork and spoon. They don't eat as much, but they are determined to try. Maddy also pointed at her bum today and said, "Poo" as well as pointed at her bum right after pooing this evening to let Guy know she needed a change. That is the first time she's really been aware of her dirty diaper needing attention. Right on! Blake is busy charming the pants off anyone who will pay attention to him. He is now starting to talk to more people besides Guy and I. He has learned quite a few words while here though some of them are very similar to each other. He loves to come get someone and take them to what he wants or wants them to see. I'm also happy to report they do well using their sippy cups all the time, and they are only drinking milk twice a day now.

Time is ticking by quickly

Us May09 1213

So by now loads of people are reading my trail blog post on How Do You Do It! It seems a little strange and unusual to put myself out there when really I do it all the time here. Maybe it's because I just ramble on about whatever here, or that there are only about 17 visitors a day to this blog (most of which are lovely family members). I had sent my post to my friend, Lisa, who is normally (ehm back when she worked) right at her computer asking her for feedback. She had some great feedback that arrived two hours after my post was turned in. Darn. She reminded me of all the gear I would take with me to visit any friends. Sometimes the back of the Envoy with the third row seats folded down was completely full. But isn't it easier to feed them in their feeding chairs & have all the blankets from home to sleep in? lol My sister also mentioned I should use spell check when writing. Oh, but I do! Unfortunately there is no cure for bad grammer and funky sentances. I use Mozilla Firefox (it's free) instead of Internet Explorer because it has a lot better features and is safer. One of the cool things they have is automatic spell check as you go. The misspelled word is underlined in red, no matter where you are typing on the web, with only a right click over the word needed to give you a suggested list of correctly spelled words. There are many words that are intentionally left misspelled by me like 'Wooooooo Hoooooo'!

Don't forget to check out How Do You Do It! http://howdoyoudoit.wordpress.com/

The prints for the show should be here tomorrow! I'm also going over to my friend's house who does framing to cut all the mat board for the prints. The packaging was supposed to be here by Thursday, but the company didn't get it out until yesterday which means it will be Friday before I get it! Yikes that is the last minute. Hopefully it will all go together quickly. Thursday and Friday nights I also have softball games! So there goes about four good hours of work. Luckily, I have help lined up the next two days with the babies since Guy goes back to work tonight for 5 days of 12 hour shifts. Oh, and Guy's parents gave us a Delta buy one get one free pass they weren't going to us. Now we are headed to Utah on Tuesday before the sun rises! So no more rest for me for a while... lol Did I really think it was going to get restful?

Both of the kids are doing FABULOUS on their eating of all things I give them. Madison still has to be convinced to try just about everything even if she has had it before. Once she has tried something she will almost always eat it up! She is also finally eating meat regularly. She will definitely pick a veggie over meat though. Blake will eat 99% of what I give him. He definitley likes meat the best and seems to be liking spicy stuff too. I haven't really given him much in the way of spicy food though. Yesterday morning they both ate the rest of my two egg omlet (Why did I think I'd eat two eggs?) with green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and feta cheese. They loved it.

In these photos they were eating spaghetti! Yum. I make it with angel hair pasta, hamburger and big chunks of veggies. It is also a bit spicy.

Check this out!

So as if I had loads of time this week with my upcoming event to sell my fine art photos (and hopefully book some portrait sessions too!) I submitted a post for How Do You Do It to become a regular contributor on the blog! So I'm totally crazy, yes, but I'd love for you to go check it out. There are seven days of guest writers competing. The person with the most votes will become a regular contributor. I've really liked this blog since finding it, because all the moms and dads of multiples who comment have great stuff to say. The readers leave lots of great comments too. My post is going to be posted on Wednesday June 3rd.

Here are a few photos from my moms visit. We went to my friend, Christine's, party for her girls birthdays. It turned out to be the perfect day.

My mom was waving at the kids here.

Did I tell you the kids are no longer using bottles?!?!?! I'm so excited. Guy tried the sippy cups with them again a week ago. They haven't had a bottle since. They also dropped from 4 bottles to 2 a day. Anyway, here is a proud grandma cuddling with Maddy while she has her bottle.

They loved the watermelon even though they both went for the rind first.

Blake was loving the swing. Maddy wouldn't get in for anything.

She did go down the slide with me, though.
